Bubba Gump's - Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas

"Bubba Gump Shrimp is what they got."  - Forrest Gump

How many of us have watched the movie Forrest Gump over and over again?  Okay, maybe just me, but watching the movie over and over again can win you trivia at the restaurant.  On Maui they gave away prizes if you could answer their questions about the movie!

Bubba Gump Shrimp Company Restaurant and Market has many locations around the United States.  Lahaina, Maui, Hi was the 2nd location of this huge franchise.  It was a favorite restaurant of our when we lived in Hawaii, so we were excited when they opened here on the strip.  We have been there a few times in the 3 years it's been here.

The other night we visited Bubba Gumps.  The staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean!  For a Saturday night on the strip we walked right into the restaurant and was seated right away.

I had the Shrimper’s Heaven.  Which has 4 different styles of shrimp, it had Coconut Shrimp, Grilled Shrimp, Crisp Golden Shrimp and Tempura Shrimp with Fries. And of course great dippin’ sauces like Tangy Asian, Cajun Marmalade and Zesty Cocktail.  This was really yummy!  Every shrimp was cooked perfectly, and being that almost everything was fried it was greasy,  and it was perfectly seasoned.

Chris had Forrest’s Seafood Feast.  Southern Fried Shrimp, Hush Pups, Fish & Fries. Dippin sauces -homemade tartar, cocktail and Remoulade.   Again for being fried it wasn't greasy and was seasoned and cook perfectly.

Mikayla had Chicken Strips and Fries.  Her kids meal came with fries, chicken, dippin sauce, jello and an orange slice.  Their kids meals run about $6 and they are served in a boat.  If you remember the movie the boat is the same as the one Forrest uses to catch the shrimp.

Cristyana had Pepperoni Pizza, which came with fries, jello and orange slice.  It was also served in Forrest Boat as you can see at the bottom of the picture.

Overall everyone had a great meal, great service and fun time.  At the end of the meal we received the check.  We had a gift card for $50, the server said he would take the gift card and our Landry's Loyalty card and then bring us back the remainder of the bill.  About 10 minutes later the manager came over and said that beside the $50 gift card we had $25 on our loyalty card which covered our entire bill.  What a surprise!!!  If visit any Landry Restaurants sign up for their loyalty card, they give you $25 on your birthday!  WOW!!!
Oh and visiting their website shows they now offer a Gluten Free menu!!  So now they have something for everyone!

Shake Shack - New York New York, Las Vegas

Shake Shack is one of the most popular burger places in New York City's Central Park.  When New York New York Hotel and Casino remodeled they opened a Shake Shack.  The lines have been crazy since they opened.
On the day we went the line was at least an hour wait to get in and order your food.  On the side there was a window where you could order Shakes, sodas and being that its Vegas, Beer and Wine and ice cream.  We decided to try the shakes, so we went to the side window.

They only had one size for the shakes and this was it.  They make their shakes with custard instead of ice cream.  I am very picky when it comes to shakes, it has to be cold and thick, this shake was a disappointment, my first sip of the shake was warm!  SERIOUSLY!  Why would a shake be warm, hmm, because 2 minutes after we ordered it, it was ready, all 3 shakes, hmmm, sounds like we got shakes that were just sitting around.  I had a black and white shake and honestly there was more flavor in a McDonalds chocolate shake then in this one.

I don't know if we will brave the lines to try there food if they can't make a good milk shake.  Maybe if we make it to New York City to the original one we will once again give them a try, but I don't think we will be rushing to the one on the strip anytime soon.

Broadway Burger Bar and Grill - Las Vegas

Broadway Burger Bar and Grill is located in New York New York Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip!  It is located in their food court area.  Their open floor plan makes you feel like you are eating on the patio.  The service was amazing, the hostess and the wait staff made everyone feel welcome.

I had this ahi salad with a wasabi vinaigrette dressing.  The ahi was firm but soft and seasoned well.  The portion was just enough that you were full, but not stuffed.

Chris had the English Pub Burger.  It was a hamburger with a friend egg with swiss cheese.  The burger was perfectly cooking and seasoned to perfection!  The french fries came in this cute little basket.

Mikayla had this Philly Cheesesteak Burger.  If you love BEEF, you will love this burger.  This burger had shaved rib eye steak on top of this burger with cheese.  It usually comes with peppers and onions (which of course Mikayla had them take off).  It also comes with that cute little basket of french fries.

Cristyana still orders off the kids menu.  On the kids menu they offered a Hamburger with or without cheese, macaroni and cheese, or chicken strips.  Cristyana ordered a cheese burger and fries.  Her burger was well done, and a little char on it, but surprisingly it was still moist.  Of course she only ate a bite here and there, but all the fries seemed to disappear.

We didn't order dessert because we were all really full, we even took home half of each burger.  The portions are worth the price of the burger!  They advertise happy hour Monday-Thursday starting at 3pm with $5 appetizers and beer.

Broadway Burger Bar and Grill has another location in Atlantic City!

Is this somewhere we would go again?  YES it is!
Is this somewhere we would recommend?  YES it is!

Mon Ami Gabi- Las Vegas

We celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary on Friday, July 17th.  We decided to try something different for dinner.  We ate at Mon Ami Gabi at the Paris Hotel and Casino.  For many years we walked by this restaurant located right on Las Vegas Blvd, but never stopped to try it.

The patio seating is on a first come first serve basis, which many choose to do because of its beautiful views of the Bellagio fountains.  Although the view is amazing we decided to sit inside.  The decor inside the restaurant is beautiful and relaxing.

While we enjoyed our cocktails fresh warm bread was brought to our table along with a corn salsa (with fresh corn, onions, and parsley mixed together with vinegar and of course butter.  Breaking the bread apart and putting the butter on it and then some of the salsa was the perfect before dinner snack.

Appetizers

We enjoyed for appetizers, main course and dessert.  For appetizers I had Wild Escargots De Bourgogne, which are over-roasted snails in a garlic-herb butter. The picture is a little dark, but it was really yummy.

Chris had Baked Goat Cheese, which is served with tomato sauce and herb garlic bread.  This dish was ridiculously good.   The tomato sauce and cheese were really creamy and when you added the herb garlic bread, the flavor was amazing!

Main Course

Their speciality is Steak Frites, which is the finest grain-fed midwest beef hand selected for exquisite marbling and unmistakable flavor, served with our signature hand-cut frites.  Of course we had to try it!

I enjoyed the Classique, which had a maitre d'hotel butter on top of the steak.  The steak was soft and melted in your mouth.  It was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection.  The hand-cut frites (french fries) was yummy.  It was lightly seasoned and crispy.

Chris has the Au Poivre, which has a brandy peppercorn sauce.  The steak was soft and melted in your mouth.  It was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection.  The sauce was light and full of flavor which complemented the steak perfectly.  The hand-cut frites (french fries) was yummy.  It was lightly seasoned and crispy.

Dessert

After looking at the dessert menu we couldn't decide what we wanted. After talking to the waiter he said that the portions were sharable and that two desserts might be too much.  Then he asked which two we were thinking of.  We had narrowed it down to the Bananas Foster Crepes and the Classic Profiteroles.  He said both would be a lot,so we decided to get the Bananas Foster Crepes.  Then he said he would bring us one of the Profiteroles so we could try it.

This is a picture of the Classic Profiteroles.  If we were to get the order they come with three to a plate.  This sample was amazing.  It is a pastry filled with vanilla ice cream and topped with homemade double chocolate fudge.  Every bite was sinfully amazing!

The Bananas Foster was wonderful!  The crepe was light and airy, inside was a scoop of vanilla ice cream.  The bananas were firm, not mushy and the caramel sauce was light and flavorful.  The light drizzle of chocolate sauce completed this dessert!

We felt the price point was reasonable for the food, and location.  We enjoyed 2 glasses of wine, a beer, appetizers, main course and dessert all for about $160.

We noticed that not only couples visited this restaurant but also families with small children.  They did offer a kids menu, but since it was our anniversary we did not have the kids with us, which means we will have to go back at another time!

Mon Ami Gabi has a total of 5 locations around the United States.  I highly recommend you try this restaurant and enjoy!!
