Canaletto

Canaletto is located in the Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian Hotel and Casino. They have private dining areas, along with patio dining in St. Mark Square.
We enjoy Canaletto for their food and service. We usually go on our anniversary, and reserve the private dining room on the second floor overlooking St. Mark Square. This year we decided to reserve a table in the dining room. As always we had excellent service and the food was amazing!

Their menu was cut down from their normal menu:

Always have to have wine when we go. They have an amazing selection of wines!

This visit we orders several dishes and shared it!
 OMG, the food was amazing!
Below is:
Prosciutto San Daniele: Sliced at the moment, served with housemade breadsticks, Cornichon and Grana Padano!
This dish was amazing! The prosciutto was soft, and flavorful!

Below is:
Calamaretti Fritti: Baby squid lightly floured & deep-fried; served with grilled polenta & spicy marinara sauce.
The calamari, was tender and light. The polenta was amazing paired with the calamari and the marinara sauce.

Below is:
Capricciosa Pizza: Imported ham, mushrooms, artichokes, mozzarella, kalamata olives, oregano & tomato sauce.

We had never ordered pizza here before, but we decided to try. It was great! We took home half of the pizza, because we had more food coming. I don't know what we were thinking, but the food is so good, we always want to try everything!

Below is:
Gamberoni alla Busara: Giant prawns sautéed with paprika, garlic, capers, marinara, brandy & cream; served with spaghetti tossed with garlic, extra-virgin olive oil & Calabrian peperoncino
There were four prawns,  so we each could have 2. They were amazing. The sauce had brandy in it, of course it was great! The noodles were done perfectly! This was amazing!

Next we moved on to dessert! Yes we are crazy!
Below is the dessert menu. They have amazing desserts, how could we choose?

Before we could decide, they brought over chocolate gelato for our anniversary!

So we decided to just order 2 Macciatos to go with our gelato.

This restaurant is fantastic, when we walk by our mouth waters, because we know how amazing the food is.
Even with the restaurant slow, they didn't overwhelm us and we could enjoy the food, and atmosphere!
If you are looking for a place for a celebration or just for good food you need to try Canaletto, you won't  be disappointed.

Sixth and Mill Ristorante

Hello everyone! Vegas Family Foodies are back! A few weeks ago Chris and I spent the day at the Venetian Hotel and Casino, and we ventured into the Grand Canal Shops for something to eat. We came across Sixth and Mill Ristorante in the back of St. Marks Square. Of course due to Covid-19 there were not many people in the restaurant, so we decided to give it a try.

Here's a peek at their menu:

We sat at the bar, and talked with the bartender while we reviewed the menu.

Of course we had to have a drink with our meal:

We started with the Calamaretti which is a lightly battered squid with lemon aioli sauce. The calamari was amazing. The batter was indeed light, so you could taste the flavor of the calamari with the different dips. The lemon aioli had a nice blend of lemon and garlic, and gave the calamari a wonderful flavor. See it pictured below:

We shared a pizza for our main dish and good thing we did. Their pizzas are just the right size if you don't start with an appetizer. We shared the pizza, and still brought home two slices. We ordered the Capricciosa which has mushrooms, ham, olives, artichoke hearts and stracciatella. This pizza was amazing, it was light and full of flavor! Every bite had all of these flavors mixed together. It was one of the best pizzas that we had, had in a long time.
See it pictured below:

Unfortunately we didn't make it for dessert because we had somewhere to be, but we look forward to trying desserts the next time we go!

If you are in the mood for great Italian food and are in the area, stop by and try Sixth and Mill Ristorante in the Venetian Hotel and Casino, located in St. Mark Square in the Grand Canal Shops. You won't regret it!

WuHu Noodles at the Sliverton

WuHu Noodles

WuHu Noodle have been open only a few months.  Chris and I decided to give it a try.

I tried the Japanese Ramen, which I could choose either Shoyu, Miso or Tonkotsu.  Included in the bowl was Japanese BBQ Pork, half a soft boiled egg, bamboo shoots, red ginger and mushrooms in a rich broth.  I am always looking for good Ramen on a cold night and this was very good!

Chris loves fried rice, so when he gets the opportunity to try a different fried rice he will.  He ordered Kimchi Fried Rice, which was made with housemade kimchi and pork belly.  There was just enough spicy to it, and really yummy!

We will be going back to WuHu noodles again!  The prices are competitive and its a relaxing atmosphere.  You can sit in and eat, but you order and pay at the counter and then someone brings your food to the table.

Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano in Disney's Hollywood Studios

It's been a very busy few months, and I now have time to finish up our Disney trip with our final restaurant.  Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano in Disney's Hollywood Studios was a first visit for the whole family.
We decided to visit this restaurant for lunch.
We started with Crispy Calamari, which was topped with grilled peppers and onions, served with dipping sauces.  This was really yummy and perfectly cooked.

Cristyana the pizza princess ordered a pepperoni pizza for her lunch, oh and let's not forget the ranch dressing!  It was her own personal pan pizza.

Mikayla ordered the Oven-Baked Chicken alla Parmigiana, which was breaded chicken breast with marinara sauce topped with melted mozzarella over spaghetti.  The pasta was cooked perfectly and the chicken was moist and well seasoned.

Chris ordered the Chicken Campanelle, which had wood-grilled chicken over campanelle pasta tossed in a four-cheese sauce with broccoflower, sun-dired tomatoes, with fresh spinach and sweet onions.  The campanelle pasta was well cooked and the chicken was moist and well seasoned.

I ordered the Saltimbocca with pork tenderloin topped with prosciutto, sage, fontina cheese, tuscan mashed potatoes, broccolini and lemon caper sauce.  I have only ever had the chicken saltimbocca, so the pork was a welcome change.  The pork was cooked perfectly and every bite was seasoned well and enjoyable.

Of course no meal is complete without dessert!  We ordered the traditional cannoli, which was made with a creamy cannoli filling with a hint of citrus and dusted with cocoa powder.  Of course it was super yummy!

We ordered the dessert sampler, which had miniature versions of Mama's favorite desserts, Amarettini cheese cake, tiramisu, and cannoli cake.  Each dessert was just enough to try them and they were all wonderful, it was a good thing I didn't have to choose which to have!  We got the best of both worlds!

After trying Mama Melrose, I think we will be making our way back to this restaurant in the future!  This was the last restaurant we visited in DisneyWorld!  Back to Las Vegas!  Look for our posts from Las Vegas, NV!!

Mon Ami Gabi- Las Vegas

We celebrated our 16th wedding anniversary on Friday, July 17th.  We decided to try something different for dinner.  We ate at Mon Ami Gabi at the Paris Hotel and Casino.  For many years we walked by this restaurant located right on Las Vegas Blvd, but never stopped to try it.

The patio seating is on a first come first serve basis, which many choose to do because of its beautiful views of the Bellagio fountains.  Although the view is amazing we decided to sit inside.  The decor inside the restaurant is beautiful and relaxing.

While we enjoyed our cocktails fresh warm bread was brought to our table along with a corn salsa (with fresh corn, onions, and parsley mixed together with vinegar and of course butter.  Breaking the bread apart and putting the butter on it and then some of the salsa was the perfect before dinner snack.

Appetizers

We enjoyed for appetizers, main course and dessert.  For appetizers I had Wild Escargots De Bourgogne, which are over-roasted snails in a garlic-herb butter. The picture is a little dark, but it was really yummy.

Chris had Baked Goat Cheese, which is served with tomato sauce and herb garlic bread.  This dish was ridiculously good.   The tomato sauce and cheese were really creamy and when you added the herb garlic bread, the flavor was amazing!

Main Course

Their speciality is Steak Frites, which is the finest grain-fed midwest beef hand selected for exquisite marbling and unmistakable flavor, served with our signature hand-cut frites.  Of course we had to try it!

I enjoyed the Classique, which had a maitre d'hotel butter on top of the steak.  The steak was soft and melted in your mouth.  It was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection.  The hand-cut frites (french fries) was yummy.  It was lightly seasoned and crispy.

Chris has the Au Poivre, which has a brandy peppercorn sauce.  The steak was soft and melted in your mouth.  It was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection.  The sauce was light and full of flavor which complemented the steak perfectly.  The hand-cut frites (french fries) was yummy.  It was lightly seasoned and crispy.

Dessert

After looking at the dessert menu we couldn't decide what we wanted. After talking to the waiter he said that the portions were sharable and that two desserts might be too much.  Then he asked which two we were thinking of.  We had narrowed it down to the Bananas Foster Crepes and the Classic Profiteroles.  He said both would be a lot,so we decided to get the Bananas Foster Crepes.  Then he said he would bring us one of the Profiteroles so we could try it.

This is a picture of the Classic Profiteroles.  If we were to get the order they come with three to a plate.  This sample was amazing.  It is a pastry filled with vanilla ice cream and topped with homemade double chocolate fudge.  Every bite was sinfully amazing!

The Bananas Foster was wonderful!  The crepe was light and airy, inside was a scoop of vanilla ice cream.  The bananas were firm, not mushy and the caramel sauce was light and flavorful.  The light drizzle of chocolate sauce completed this dessert!

We felt the price point was reasonable for the food, and location.  We enjoyed 2 glasses of wine, a beer, appetizers, main course and dessert all for about $160.

We noticed that not only couples visited this restaurant but also families with small children.  They did offer a kids menu, but since it was our anniversary we did not have the kids with us, which means we will have to go back at another time!

Mon Ami Gabi has a total of 5 locations around the United States.  I highly recommend you try this restaurant and enjoy!!
